Paul Larson, MD
Board Certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist
Dr. Larson treats a wide variety of child and adolescent mental health concerns. Interests include ADHD, depression, anxiety, vocal/motor tics and sleep disruptions. At initial evaluation, he will assess the biological, psychological, and social components to diagnose disorders and design a comprehensive treatment plan. He views medication as targeting two broad categories; improving one’s physical suffering and improving one’s response to psychotherapy. He values involving a child/teen in an age appropriate discussion of how medication addresses these broad categories. This, in and of itself, is a therapeutic and reassuring component of visits.
Dr. Larson attended medical school at the University of South Dakota, completing both his general psychiatry residency and child/adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He returns to Madison with his wife, a native of Madison, after over 20 years of practice in the Waukesha, WI area. He has two children enrolled in “friendly rival” universities, on the East Coast.
