Jeffrey Smarrella, MD

Dr. Smarrella’s interests include the breadth of child and adolescent psychiatry. He strives to help those he sees improve their mental health through understanding and integration of the biological, psychological, and social contributions to one’s situation. He also recognizes the importance of treating the individual in the context of their family. His practice focuses primarily on children, adolescents, and young adults.
Dr. Smarrella performs initial psychiatric evaluations and treats conditions including, but not limited to eating disorders, depression, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorders. He will provide medication management along with individual and family therapies when appropriate.
Dr. Smarrella pursued medical school at The Ohio State University after graduating summa cum laude from the University of Notre Dame. He entered his adult psychiatry training at Darmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and completed his child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the University of Wisconsin. He was an inpatient child and adolescent psychiatrist at Rogers Memorial Hospital in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin prior to his time at MPA. He has experience in all levels of care, including his current work with Steps to Success day treatment in Madison.
